MECHANISM OF ACTION
Mifepristone is a synthetic steroid bearing antiprogestin property. This blocks the activities of progesterone. Physically mifepristone appears in the form of yellow colored powder. The molecular weight of mifepristone is 429.6. Its melting point is 192-196°C. This compound is poorly soluble in water, hexane and ether and highly soluble in methanol, chloroform and acetone.
Misoprostol is a tablet having molecular weight 382.53/mol. Its molecular formula is C22H38O5 and other chemical names are Misoprostolum, Misopess, Isprelor.
CONTRAINDICATION
